Imagine a school focused on hands-on, and life-skills learning, with only a few hours of theory each day.
A school with real businesses where students gain valuable experience and even start businesses of their own. A school where students build, repair, garden, and sell products to cover their entire fees.
Imagine a school so innovative that government officials and publications came to observe its industrious students, and where young people were challenged to do difficult things so they would be prepared to go wherever God called them.
That was the original Madison School in Tennessee, USA, in the early-to-mid 1900s.
Today, Madison Missions Australia seeks to follow that same model as closely as possible: training people in practical skills, medical missionary work, cross-cultural communication, and gospel outreach; preparing them to thoughtfully connect others with God and unashamedly share the gospel and health message in unentered areas.
The original Madison was a radical experiment, and its stories still challenge us today: Is that spirit still alive? Are there still missionaries willing to be trained to serve in difficult places? Who will carry Christ’s method of ministry to foreign and local hard-to-reach areas – to the large secular cities, our neglected rural regions, and the 10/40 Window?

The Madison experience – today
For over 20 years we’ve provided young people with training and mission opportunities through music and Bible camps, canvassing programs, industry opportunities and health work.
Now, MMTC prepares students for success in both ministry and industry by combining hands-on training with spiritual development—equipping a new generation with the skills, knowledge, and character to serve God and humanity.
Philosophy of education
We believe that true education is “the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers” (White, Education p. 13).
